Nuable are working with an exciting, venture-backed HealthTech startup that is transforming the future of mental healthcare through AI-powered technology.

Having recently secured significant seed funding, our client is building intelligent software that enables healthcare professionals to deliver better patient outcomes at scale. They’re now looking to hire an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to play a key role in designing and building the platform that underpins their product.

This is an opportunity to join a highly talented engineering team at an early stage, where you’ll have genuine influence over technical architecture, infrastructure and engineering best practices.

Location

Hybrid – New York City (2–3 days per week)

Salary

$185,000 – $250,000 + Meaningful Equity

Final compensation will depend on experience and the balance between salary and equity that best suits the successful candidate.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer with a strong track record of building scalable backend systems and APIs from the ground up.

You’ll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the core infrastructure that powers a modern AI healthcare platform. This role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, working through ambiguity and owning projects from architecture through to production.

Experience working within regulated environments or an interest in healthcare technology would be highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will:

• Design and build scalable backend services, APIs and data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure using Google Cloud Platform.
• Ensure systems are built with security, compliance and reliability at their core.
• Design robust REST APIs with strong validation, monitoring and documentation.
• Implement logging, monitoring and alerting to maintain platform health and performance.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
• Take ownership of backend architecture and contribute to long-term technical strategy.

About You

We’re looking for engineers who have:

• 10+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Proven experience delivering scalable backend systems end-to-end.
• Strong API design experience.
• Experience architecting distributed systems from scratch.
• The ability to work autonomously within fast-moving startup environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and technical design skills.
• An interest in healthcare technology or regulated software environments would be advantageous.
